Border patrol makes big weekend arrests

TUCSON - The following is a press release from Border Patrol:
Border Patrol Agents from the Tucson Sector arrested three sexual predators and one burglar over the weekend.
On Friday July 11, Border Patrol Agents assigned to the Naco Station arrested a male subject identified as Galdino Venegas Dominguez from Zacatecas, Mexico, near Hereford, Arizona, at approximately 11:30 p.m. While being processed Venegas’ fingerprints were entered into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) revealing that Venegas was convicted in Denver, Colorado, on Sexual Assault of a Child and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
On Saturday, Ricardo Reyes Gutierrez was arrested by Tucson Station agents near the Sasabe Port of Entry. IAFIS records revealed that the Mexican national was convicted of Sexual Battery and Felony Disseminating Obscenity in North Carolina, for which he was sentenced to six months in prison.
Also on Saturday, agents from the Naco Border Patrol Station arrested Luis Vega Aguirre, a citizen of Mexico. IAFIS records revealed that Vega was arrested in 2003 for Burglary of a Vehicle and Convicted to 75 days confinement. Vega was also arrested in 2001, for a Probation Violation and July 2007, for Possession of Marijuana.
On Sunday, Douglas Agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico identified as Edgar Flores Moreno. IAFIS records revealed that Flores was convicted of the Felony Rape of an underage female.
All four illegal aliens are being held in Border Patrol custody pending removal proceedings.
Criminal backgrounds discovered using IAFIS have led to the identity of over 38, 000 cases of prior criminal convictions of illegal aliens apprehended between October 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008 in the Tucson Sector.
