PHOENIX -- A Valley man was sentenced today after pleading guilty to child abuse in connection with the alcohol-poisoning death of a teenager last year.

Scott Franze will spend 1 1/2 years in prison.

Police said Franze was at the apartment where Brenda Nguyen,13, died after consuming about 24 ounces of alcohol within about 30 minutes.

Tests showed that Brenda's blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit of .08.

It's believed that Brenda died in the apartment after everyone else went to sleep.

The teen's body was dumped in a central Phoenix alley, and it was a week before police were able to identify her.

Franze's co-defendants Armando Hernandez and Clayton Koepke, faced additional charges of manslaughter and concealing a dead body. Both pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a Class 2 Felony.

Hernandez was sentenced to seven years in prison in February.

Koepke is awaiting sentencing.

A fourth defendant, Ana Hernandez, also pleaded guilty to child abuse charges and was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison.
