Phoenix police arrest four in identity theft ring

PHOENIX - The following is a release from the Phoenix Police Department:

According to investigators, this identity theft ring may have been in operation for three years. The suspects would create forged checks with identities they stole through burglaries from vehicles and homes. They would then use the checks to purchase personal items at stores throughout the Valley. At times, the suspects would return the purchased items for cash.
This investigation is ongoing. At this time, investigators have not been able to determine the total dollar amount that was stolen by this group of criminals.
Detectives would like to remind the community to shred mail; not disclose personal information; monitor credit card and bank statements; and report suspicious activity to the police department. The Phoenix Police Department Crime Stop (non-emergency) phone number is 262-6151.
