PHOENIX -- Less than two weeks after the light rail started running, could we already be looking at a rate hike?

Public transportation fares - that means light rail and buses - could be increasing as much as $1.00 for a one-way ticket.

Currently, Valley Metro says it is not meeting it's operating costs and increasing prices would help.

But before ticket fares go up Valley Metro is holding seven open house meetings over the next two weeks to talk about concerns with the public.
