GILA BEND - The four people killed in a head-on collision north of Gila Bend Saturday have been identified.

Police are still investigating but do not believe alcohol was a factor.
ORIGINAL REPORT:
GILA BEND -- Crews were called out to a two-vehicle head-on wreck on State Route 85 north of Gila Bend Saturday afternoon.
Officials have confirmed four fatalities.
It happened at about 2:30 p.m., near milepost 133.
A BMW was heading north in the southbound lane and slammed head-on into a southbound Toyota, said Harold Sanders of the Department of Public Safety.
There were two people -- and man and a woman -- in each vehicle.
According to the DPS, all four people were declared dead on the scene. Officials are in the process of notifying the victims' next of kin. Two of the victims reportedly were from California, the other two were from here in the Valley.
Both cars were equipped with air bags and three of the four victims were wearing seat belts.
DPS investigators said it's still not clear why the BMW was driving north in the southbound lanes. Witnesses said it was not trying to pass another northbound vehicle.
DPS said there were also two dogs in the BMW. They did not appear to have suffered any injuries and were turned over to a veterinary hospital for observation.
Traffic was detoured for a time to Woods Road and Old Highway 80. DPS had the freeway open again by about 7 p.m.
