COTTONWOOD - The following is a release from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office:
On August 6, 2008, at approximately 7:30 P.M., Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported domestic dispute in the 9900 block of Sycamore Canyon Road, Cottonwood. The reporting party told dispatchers that her brother, 53-year-old Randall Keenan, had assaulted her and threatened to shoot her with a gun. Deputies arrived as quickly as possible, but Keenan had already fled. The victim had been struck in the struck in the face by Keenan’s hand which caused her to fall against a fence post outside the house. He also threatened to shoot her before leaving and she noticed that three of his rifles were now missing. The victim had argued with Keenan because of his desire to shoot chickens in the yard. The victim did not require medical attention.
Deputies learned that Keenan left the area in a blue Ford Ranger truck and was likely staying at a home in the 1300 block of Viejo Drive in Cottonwood. The truck was driven by a female who witnessed Keenan’s assault and verbal threats against the victim.
At approximately 10:15 P.M., YCSO deputies located the female truck driver and Keenan inside the home on Viejo Drive. Although Keenan was uncooperative, he was arrested without incident. During the arrest, deputies detected the odor of alcohol on Keenan’s breath and person.
Keenan was transported to, and booked at the Camp Verde Jail for Domestic Violence Assault, Domestic Violence Threats and Disorderly Conduct. The media office has not received a status update as to the whereabouts of Keenan’s guns.
