BUCKEYE - The following is a press release from the Buckeye Police Department:
Buckeye Police
David Middlemas, a transient with no permanent address, faces two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. If convicted, Middlemas could face a total maximum sentence of 70 years in prison.
The Middlemas investigation began when a social worker from the state Child Protective Services agency alerted Buckeye Detective Doug Dodge after a relative of the young girl called CPS to report the molestation. The victim was later taken to the Southwest Family Advocacy Center after the investigation had started.
Dodge said he and Officer Joe Kirby worked with representatives of CPS, the FBI and Phoenix Airport Police Bureau during the investigation of the case. Middlemas reportedly admitted to FBI agents that he had molested the girl in Maricopa County and overseas.
