Two home invasion suspects in police custody

AVONDALE - The following is a press release from Avondale police:
On July 6, 2008 at 6:57 P.M. officers were dispatched to a residence in the 10600 block W. Rosewood Dr, Avondale AZ in reference to a report of an armed robbery. As officers responded to the scene they were able to arrest Dwayne Lovett Floyd of Goodyear after a traffic stop. Floyd was identified as one of three suspects who forced two adult victims into their home at gunpoint and used duct tape to bind the victims’ hands and legs as the suspects rummaged through the victim’s residence. Two other suspects were not located at that time.
On July 7, 2008 at approximately 6:30 A.M. members of the Avondale Police Department Tactical Operations Unit and Avondale Detectives served a search warrant at a residence located in the 12500 block W. Cheery Lynn Rd. in Avondale in an attempt to locate one of the two outstanding suspects. Although the suspect was not located at this residence; evidence was gathered which led detectives to a house in the 4100 block N. 157th Ave. in Goodyear where with the assistance of Goodyear Police, James Edward McCurdy of Avondale was taken into custody.
Floyd and McCurdy were booked at the Maricopa County Jail located at 201 S. 4th Ave for one count of armed robbery.
The third suspect who is known to detectives as “Speedy” and described as an African-American male, approximately 45 years old, bald, approximately 5’07, 150 Lbs. is still outstanding. Avondale Police is asking anyone with information regarding the third suspect contact the Avondale Police Department at (623) 333-7001.
