PIESTEWA PEAK -- Hundreds of people gathered for a special sunrise service to honor Pfc. Lori Piestewa, the Arizona mother of two who was the first Native American woman to die while serving her country.
The Arizona native was killed five years ago. She became the first woman to be killed in the Iraq war.
Her family held a sunrise memorial service in her honor Monday morning at the Apache Ramada at the Phoenix Mountains Park at Piestewa Peak.
Piestewa's family wasjoined by some military friends including Jessica Lynch.
