GLENDALE - A baby girl is recovering while her mother is in jail for leaving the little girl in a hot car.
Police say 25-year-old Mandy Nichols walked into a Food City at 43rd Avenue and Thomas Saturday afternoon but forgot her seven-week-old child in the car.
Little Serenity Soto was trapped inside for about 30 minutes. A passerby spotted her and called for help.
Police say the baby is expected to recover but will be turned over to Child Protective Services after her release from the hospital.
Nichols now faces one count of child abuse.
