PHOENIX -- Future nurses being trained here in the Valley are now being taught by a high-tech mannequin.

The University of Phoenix unveiled its new state-of-the-art Nursing Center Thursday morning.

One of the "patients" there is an expensive mannequin designed to let students simulate dozens of possible scenarios hospitals see every day.

"When he breathes, you can actually see him breathing," explained Tracy Chesney of the University of Phoenix. "He has a pulse. He has a blood pressure. He's go oxygen level. He can talk to us. We can make him vomit. We can make him bleed. We can put IVs into him."

The University of Phoenix invested $400,000 into the new Nursing Center. It's the first of many the university plans to open across the country.
