FLAGSTAFF -- The Coconino County Health Department says seven children mistakenly received adult doses of swine flu vaccine at a Flagstaff clinic last weekend.

They say the children -- ages 6 months to 9 years old -- received double the amount of vaccine than they should have via a pre-filled injection at a flu clinic where 704 people were vaccinated Saturday.

Health officials say they contacted all of the families as soon as they learned of the issue and asked about any adverse side effects and none were affected. But they say the children will still need a second round of flu vaccine to have immunity.

County Health Director Barbara Worgess says it's possible that similar packaging between the vaccines for adults and those for children could have led to confusion. She says more training is being conducted to avoid future mistakes.

Poll: Many Arizonans don't want swine flu vaccine

PHOENIX -- A new poll shows that the majority of Arizonans don't want a swine flu vaccination when it becomes readily available in the state.

The poll conducted by Arizona State University and released Tuesday says 54 percent of the 652 voters surveyed say they won't get the vaccination. Forty-one percent say they will get the vaccine while 5 percent say they don't know or don't have an opinion.

The poll also asked voters to evaluate how they think elected officials in the state are doing. Thirty-nine percent said they approve of Gov. Jan Brewer's performance, while the same percentage said they disapproved. Twenty-two percent had no opinion.

The Cronkite/Eight Poll was conducted Oct. 22-25. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
