GILBERT, Ariz. -- A Gilbert woman disappeared in 2005 and her family has spent the last seven years searching for her.
"You hold out hope you are going to find them alive, there is always that hope," said Nikki Askren.
But it's been seven years since her sister-in-law Stacey Aragon, a Gilbert mother of three, went missing.
And Askren admits the hope of finding her alive is fading.
"As far as her being alive and held against her will, well that's a possibility but I really don't believe she is alive," Askren stated.
Aragon was last seen with her boyfriend, Steven Bishop, in July 2005. The couple told family they were running a quick errand and would be right back but neither has been seen or heard from since.
"It's not illegal for someone to get up and walk away and exit their life but in this case we don't know what happened," Gilbert police Sgt. Bill Balafas said about missing adults.
In December 2005, Aragon's car was found abandoned near Lake Pleasant with her purse and cell phone inside, but still no sign of her.
"Unfortunately she was very gullible and just wanted to be liked and unfortunately got mixed up with the wrong people," said Askren.
Askren knows her sister-in-law's missing person case has gone cold. She said she no longer believes Aragon is alive, yet she still has questions and she wants answers.
"More than anything we want closure we want to find her remains and give her a final resting place," said Askren. "I'd rather the closure than the justice because I believe in the end everyone gets what they deserve."
The family is confident someone out there knows where Stacey Aragon is and they just ask that person to do the right thing and call Gilbert Police.
