FOLLOW UP: Valley Man gets his cash refund

PHOENIX -- A follow up on a Valley man who was promised a $300 refund. This had to do with a prepaid money card. Specifically, it deals with a card called the Green Dot MoneyPak card.

Because of a glitch, the card was useless and the company was supposed to mail our viewer a refund, so did they?  

“I wasn't getting anywhere. It's been over two weeks but all it takes is a call from 3 On Your Side,” said Robert Young.

Young feels a lot better these days. It's a far cry from just a few weeks ago when he was profiled by 3 On Your Side.

"This is a case where for $300 I had nothing. I had a piece of paper that was worthless," Young remarked.

He was upset because he had purchased a $300 pre-paid money card called a Green Dot MoneyPak. The card that was supposed to have $300 on it, but really it had nothing.

In order to use a Green Dot MoneyPak card, consumers like Young have to scratch off the back of the card to reveal a code, and then use that code to validate the card.

The card numbers should be clearly visible. Young's code, however, was smudged making it unreadable.

"It disappeared, it wasn't there," Young stated.

And without that code, Young couldn't access his $300.

After getting no help from Green Dot MoneyPak Robert asked 3 On Your Side to help. 

Green Dot MoneyPak immediately looked into the matter and told us they would mail Young a refund, and we were there when he received it.

Young received all of his $306.24 in full, something he said wouldn’t have happened without 3 On Your Side's involvement.

“I'm very happy and thankful to 3 On Your Side. I don't think I could have done this by myself even though I'm an attorney," he said.
