SAGUARO LAKE, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office and firefighters rescued a 19-year-old who fell at Saguaro Lake near Dive Rock Tuesday morning.
MCSO spokesman Sgt. Brandon Jones said the man was climbing up a cliff when he slipped and fell an unknown distance. He landed on rocks approximately 100 feet up.
Firefighters made their way to the man and took him to a dive boat. He then was transported by ambulance to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center.
The man reportedly sustained injuries to his head and back and a possible broken leg and/or ankle. Jones said the man was alert and talkative during transportation to the hospital.
Saguaro Lake is located within the Tonto National Forest about 20 minutes from Mesa.
