ADAM LAMBERT DEFENDS HIS AMA PERFORMANCE

LOS ANGELES (AP) — ABC says more than 1,500 people complained about Adam Lambert's performance on the American Music Awards. ABC considers that a moderate response. Lambert led men on leashes, dragged a woman by her foot, smashed a man's head into his crotch and kissed another man. Lambert left out the kiss during rehearsals for the number and the man's face did not come as close to his crotch. ABC's feed of the show to the West Coast cut out the part with the face to the crotch. Lambert stands by his performance. He writes on his Twitter page, "All hail freedom of expression and artistic integrity." Lambert had said before his performance there was a double standard, because female pop performers do that kind of thing all the time, and he was hoping to break that standard. His CD, "For Your Entertainment," is out this week.

RIHANNA: OPENING UP MUSICALLY WITH NEW ALBUM

There are some songs she describes as "dark," while others are more of the fun-loving party girl she feels most of her fans see her as. Rihanna says because of her past music, people "didn't really know my personality" — but she hopes that will change with this new project.
