PHOENIX -- Phoenix Police believe a young woman was murdered Wednesday evening, before her apartment was set on fire.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was 21-years-old and eight-to-nine months pregnant, according to officers.

Investigators have not identified a suspect or suspects.

A neighbor at the apartment complex near 14th Street and Bell Road called 911 to report the fire on Wednesday.  When police arrived, they found the victim in a bedroom.

Investigators believe the fire may have been used to cover-up the murder.

"Certainly that's how we see fire used. In this case, we don't know if it was a cover-up or part of the original homicide," said Sgt. Trent Crump.
