PHOENIX -- Phoenix Firefighters called in a helicopter to help rescue a biker from Dreamy Draw Thursday night.

They say a 34-year-old man flipped over his handlebars, and broke his hip on a trail.

"I've been riding with this guy a hundred times.  I've seen him crash a few times, but I knew this was bad," the biker's friend, Chad Salisbury, told 3TV.

The bikers were a few miles into the park in North Phoenix, and firefighters say it would have been too uncomfortable for them to wheel the man out on their "big wheel" device.

A helicopter dropped a line down, hoisted the man out, and flew him to John C. Lincoln Hospital for treatment.
