BUCKEYE, Ariz. -- An Army Reserve unit based in Buckeye is deploying this week for the Middle East.
Twenty-one men and women will provide transportation services for the Army in different parts of the Middle East.
For some, it's their first deployment, but for others it's their second or third, as part of the 'Global War on Terrorism.'
Friends and family members of the deploying 289th Transportation Detachment held a ceremony for the unit Tuesday night.
As a transportation unit, their mission is unmapped. They could end up in one or several different places in the Middle East.
"We'll be moving whatever the Army needs moved, wherever they need it moved," Sgt. Javelin San Nicolas of Phoenix told 3TV.
"It's really the small things, the freedom to step outside and mow the lawn or water the flowers. That's probably the worst part,'' Sgt. San Nicolas said.
The unit will deploy for 400 days.
