PHOENIX -- A box of ashes is all that's left of six-year-old Chico Murphy.

The dog was shot and killed in July

Chico’s owner said her dog was shot in the backyard of her Phoenix home while she was gone.

The Pitbull-mix took a bullet through the neck, leaving a trail of blood throughout her home.

He died in her bed room.

Parts of Murphy's carpet had to be cut out in her home.

Cleaning couldn't remove the stains of animal cruelty.

“It was like a murder scene. That's what police said,” said Murphy.

She suspects someone in the neighborhood is to blame for her dog's death.

Frustrated and angry, she put reward posters throughout her neighborhood.

Murphy is hoping her $2,000 reward will catch Chico's killer.

“If they can shoot a 22 gun over my wall and shoot my dog am I next? Are my grandkids next,” Murphy questioned.

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating.

Call police if you have any information about the shooting.
