SpongeBob SquarePants items recalled
11:51 AM Mountain Standard Time on Thursday, August 23, 2007
An Ohio importer has recalled 250,000 SpongeBob SquarePants address books and journals.
They were made in China and sold in stores nationwide from June 2006 to July 2007.
The spiral metal bindings on the books might contain high levels of lead paint. Lead can cause brain damage if ingested.
A Thomas the Tank Engine spinning top is also being recalled. The wooden handle may have excessive amounts of lead paint on it. The same goes for several metal pails with Thomas and with Curious George characters.
Anyone with any of these products should either return them to the store or throw them away.
