A Valley teenager says she was pretty disappointed when her iPod broke and even more disappointed when her extended warranty wouldn't pay to replace it.

So, she turned to 3 On Your Side for help.

A lot of folks get an extended warranty to give them a little peace of mind.

One Valley teen says she has no peace, no iPod, and no money to buy a new one.

"That's what I use to entertain myself," Daisy Maldonado said. "I have movies on there, music, some pictures."

The 17-year old was thrilled when her parents gave her an iPod for her birthday.

"All my friends have one too so I was really cool when I got mine," Daisy said. "I was really excited and it stopped working. Bummer."

Bummer is right. She had only had the iPod for a few months when it stopped working. But luckily, Daisy's parents had also purchased an extended warranty, so she contacted them.

"They said, 'Oh, you'll have to send in your iPod and then we can give you a check for the amount you paid for your iPod and you can go get yourself a new one,'" Daisy said.

So back in March, Daisy mailed her iPod to the warranty company and waited to be reimbursed.

"I was pretty excited I could get a new iPod and it was going to work again, no more frustration," she said.

Well, that's what Daisy thought, but after waiting more than a month she called back.

"I called in a little later and they're like, 'We sent you your check, somebody cashed it,' and I'm like, 'I haven't received anything!'" Daisy said.

Daisy insists she never received a check so she contacted 3 On Your Side.

"The iPod is awesome and all, but $319 to go to waste for nothing, that's a lot of money and right now," she said. "We're not in a spot to just be giving away $300."

3 On Your Side contacted the warranty company and it claims they did send a refund check way back in June. In fact, the company provided us with a copy of a $319 check that was apparently signed and cashed. But Daisy says she and her parents never received or signed a check, which means if they didn't get the check, then who did?

"It'd be a relief to me," Daisy said. "Right now I feel like $300 is lost out there who knows where."

3 On Your Side gave a copy of that check to Daisy's dad and after looking at the signature, he verified that it was, in fact, his signature and being a businessman who deposits and cashes checks, he says it was clearly an oversight. He still credits 3 On Your Side for getting to the truth.
