PHOENIX -- It's the first week of April, which means there are certain consumer-related items you can get a great deal on.
You might have noticed barbecue grills are starting to go on sale this month and some of the prices are pretty attractive.
Debbie Hernandez with Home Depot said April is traditionally the month for a smokin' deal.
"The weather is beautiful and everybody wants to get outside and entertain and have family over,” she said.
And while you should find a great deal on a grill, consumer advocates say if you can wait until June bargains might even be better.
By the way, home improvement items are hot and heavy in April.
Homeowners like to start making repairs and retailers know it, so prices are slashed.
“They’re trying to keep the prices down to make it affordable for people to really make their backyards luxurious,” Hernandez said. “Bring the inside out and the outside in.”
Use this month to book a cruise. Promotions and sales are normally publicized in April and this year, there should be plenty due to several recent public disasters.
April is also considered a smart time to upgrade your spring wardrobe because most apparel came out two months ago. With April now here, retailers really need to start moving items off the rack.
Finally, Mother's Day items like jewelry are cheaper in April. If you wait until next month, retailers know it, and Mother's Day jewelry tends to be higher priced.
