PHOENIX -- There is a voluntary recall targeting several models of GE dishwashers.

On Monday, the Arizona Department of Fire, Building and Life Safety issued a warning regarding 1.3 million GE dishwashers because they pose a fire hazard. This is an issue that the Consumer Product Safety Commission has been talking about since last summer.

The models were sold between March 2006 and August 2009. They are: GE, GE ADORA, GE ETERNA, GE PROFILE & HOTPOINT.

There have been 15 reported electrical failures across the United States and it starts with the dishwasher heating element.

Consumers should stop using the dishwashers immediately and disconnect the electric by unplugging it.

Consumers can also contact GE for a free in-home repair or rebate. For more details about this recall visit www.geappliances.com/products/recalldishwasher_2012 or call GE toll free at 1-866-918-8760.
