PHOENIX -- A report just released indicates that California is still the king when it comes to the number of vehicles stolen.
Although other western states showed a rise in auto thefts, Arizona is actually bucking the trend and actually saw fewer cars stolen than last year, which is great news.
Still, AAA tells 3 On Your Side that motorists still need to remember the basics.
For example, don't leave your keys in the ignition even for a minute, and never leave your car running unattended. Park smart and try to park your car in a well lighted area.
Always lock your car and remember to store valuables in the trunk area. And if you don't have one already, consider installing some kind of car alarm.
And even if you have a garage, AAA says lock your doors anyway.
