CHANDLER -- We have some good news about a Valley woman and her ice maker.
I like doing these follow-ups because it's our viewers who step in to make things right. That's certainly the case with this story.
Heather Erndt is thrilled now, but she had a much different tune when 3 On Your Side spoke with her just a few weeks ago.
Ernt was upset because an appliance company told her she needed a new ice maker and she would be set. But after paying nearly $300 to have it installed, she still had to make ice the old-fashioned way because she still wasn't getting ice.
The company, according to Erndt, wanted more money to replace another part that would make the new ice maker work properly.
"I said I don't have any more money to spend on an ice maker," Erndt said.
The night that 3 On Your Side story aired, Larry Crider, who owns a company called Hometec Masters, was watching and wanted to help.
"My thought was as a service provider somebody's got to step up and just take care of her," Crider said.
And that's exactly what Crider and Hometec Masters did. They came to Ernt's house and replaced the broken part that needed to be repaired.
And with that, Erndt finally had ice.
"I just can't believe that they're here and I'm very thankful and appreciative," she said.
"We wanted to make sure that everyone is aware that there are good service companies out there," Crider said.
Ernt says she is grateful to Hometec Masters and to 3 On Your Side for melting away her trouble.
"I just want to say thanks for taking care of me," Erndt said. "I really appreciate it."
Hometec Masters has an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau and you know they could have looked the other way on this one because it wasn't their issue. But they got involved and made things right and I appreciate that.
