PHOENIX -- A 3 On Your Side investigation has led to the arrest of an unlicensed contractor. This happens from time to time. And in this case, our investigation into an unlicensed contractor prompted state investigators to take notice and take action.

His name is Frank Anthony Marquez and following a recent 3 On Your Side investigation, the 51-year-old unlicensed contractor was finally nabbed by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.

"With Mr. Marquez, we got some information he was out contracting without a license," said Bill Mundell, who heads up the agency. "Taking money and not finishing the job. Taking money and not even starting a job."

A number of consumers allege that Marquez took money from them and then never finished what he was paid to do. As a result, court documents indicate several arrest warrants were issued for Marquez and he was arrested.

Ironically, a recent 3 On Your Side report showed you a homeowner who said she too was ripped off, except her contractor was a guy named Jesse Marquez, who is believed to be Frank's dad.

"I would hope it would be a legitimate deal, but I kind of feel like it's a scam," said Kimberly Pernod, who spoke with 3OYS last February.

It was that report that caused the Arizona registrar of contractors to expand its investigation into the Marquez family and eventually led to the recent arrest of Frank Marquez.

According to Mundell, "Your previous story was instrumental in getting us to look into more detail at him and we discovered that this is an ongoing enterprise, for lack of a better word, and as I said, there are cases pending in Scottsdale, Chandler and Gilbert."

Frank Marquez is expected in court later this month. In the meantime, investigators say if your job was abandoned by either Frank or Jesse Marquez, file a complaint with the contracting board.
