SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale resident Sandra Yelle does her best to stay in good health.
“I get a physical every year. I do my mammogram. I do everything,” she said.
But staying active is pretty difficult ever since she injured her hand. In fact, the injury was so severe, it left her somewhat disabled.
“I cannot move my thumb. This is as much as I can make a fist. I can't lift anything,” she said.
Obamacare eventually came into the picture, and Yelle said she was forced to sign up for insurance.
So, after looking around, she settled on a provider called Health Net Insurance and even paid several months in advance.
“They took out three months: May, June and July,” she said.
But Yelle said even though Health Net Insurance took that money, the company kept harassing her.
“I'm constantly getting these phone calls saying I haven't paid,” she said.
What happened to that three months advance payment?
Health Net said, "What payment?"
Yelle said they also told her she wasn't even in their system.
Yelle has a health identification card from Health Net and a bank statement showing the company clearly took her money.
“I've done everything. I've done more than enough. That's why I paid the three months. That's why I call them every time. I thank them, everything, and ... they're still calling me and telling me to pay," she said.
3 On Your Side contacted Health Net and told them to get to the bottom of things.
Health Net said they verified that Yelle is in the system, and they confirmed that she paid and is insured.
After clearing up the matter, Health Net also apologized to her.
Yelle said she's glad the ordeal has been straightened out and thrilled those calls for payment will stop.
