PHOENIX -- With the Memorial Day Weekend upon us, many Valley residents are heading north to escape city life and the warm temperatures for a few days.
Swarms of people plan to explore Arizona’s natural beauty while taking part in activities like camping and fishing.
“It’s beautiful, I like the weather, and you smell clean air,” said frequent Aspen Campground visitor Cecilia Deleon.
Deleon was one of the fortunate holiday campers who was able to make her way north in time to get a camping spot.
The Aspen Campground filled up prior to the start of the weekend, suggesting that those who are late to make their camping plans may be out of luck.
Holiday travelers who are able to find a place to camp will want to make sure they pay attention to the weather conditions.
Red Flag Warnings have been issued, meaning that conditions are ideal for wildfires.
“No fires whatsoever. You can have propane stoves for cooking, but that’s all,” said Lolly Dague with the Aspen Campground.
