TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona Cardinals' quarterback Kevin Kolb and more than 60 other players were on hand for the team's first voluntary workout this on Monday, April 16.

Although he was all smiles in the gym, Kolb admitted the Cardinals' pursuit of quarterback Peyton Manning was a situation that was anything but pleasant.

"I think there were a few things that maybe could have been handled a little bit different and we discussed those and look forward to the future and wining a lot of football games," said Kolb.

The Peyton Manning story is done, but the Cardinals' quarterback drama is far from over. At the end of last season, head coach Ken Whisenhunt said there will be an open competition for the starting job between John Skelton and Kevin Kolb.

The Arizona Cardinals could be thinking big in this year's draft.

That's big as in some mountainous offensive lineman to fill the team's biggest need.

The Cardinals need someone to play right tackle, or at least right guard, and conventional wisdom has them going in that direction with the 13th overall pick on Thursday night.

Yet it's not a foregone conclusion, with the team still searching for a reliable No. 2 receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald.

That could tempt Arizona to go for Notre Dame's Michael Floyd.

The Cardinals' 2012 schedule has the team playing four of their first six games at home and returning to Monday Night Football.

"I'm excited that we got a Monday night game. It's already a little bit difficult as far as the short week afterwards and preparing for it but you know you like to play on the national stage like that," said Cardinals head coach, Ken Whisenhunt.

The team opens against the Seahawks in Glendale on Sept. 9. Then it's off to New England before coming back home for two in a row, taking on the Eagles and the Dolphins.
