SEATTLE -- Ford's new all-electric 2012 Focus was the centerpiece of a wide range of new hybrid and electric cars at the Seattle Auto Show this year.

More and more hybrid and electric vehicles are coming onto showroom floors as carmakers fight for dominance in a growing eco-friendly automobile market.

Manufacturers are battling over battery types, mile range, and miles-per-gallon ratings while still trying to keep design, comfort, and power as priorities. However, even with government tax credits, the affordability of many of the new cars is still hit or miss.
