PHOENIX – You’ve heard the phrase, “Porsche. There is no substitute.” Scott Pasmore got a first-hand look at the Panamera, Porsche’s four-door luxury sedan Monday morning, and he says that catchphrase is dead on.
As Jim Prueter from AAA Arizona explained, Porsche introduced the Panamera last year. There were two models, both V8s. This year, Porsche has added a hybrid, a V6, and a super 550-horsepower turbo.
“It’s a fabulous car,” Prueter said. “It is the best-handling sedan I’ve ever driven, and I’ve driven a lot of vehicles.”
The Panamera was the center of some controversy when it first came out. Experts were not sure if it would sell, if people would like it. As it turns out, those concerns proved to be unfounded.
“Already it’s the best-selling Porsche in the lineup, accounting for one-third of the sales,” Prueter said. “People do like it.”
The price ranges from $74,000 up to $172,000.
“It’s not going to be your daily commuter,” Prueter said.
It will, however, earns you envious looks wherever you go. It's every family man's dream car.
“If you have the means, I highly suggest you pick one up,” Pasmore said, quoting the 1980’s hit film, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” (Of course, the choice car in the movie was a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California.)
