PHOENIX – A youth minister has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in a child molestation case.
A judge also sentenced Jasmine Omar Brown to lifetime probation on Tuesday and said he must register as a sex offender.
Brown was arrested in December 2011 on suspicion of child molestation stemming from a relationship with a boy.
Mesa police said the victim told them Brown had touched him inappropriately on two occasions during a summer camp at Family of God Christian Fellowship in Apache Junction.
In August, Brown pleaded guilty to molestation of a child and two counts of attempted sexual conduct with a minor.
Brown told police that he had been a full-time teacher's aide working with special needs children at Phoenix Collegiate Academy. Prior to that, he said he was employed at the Roosevelt School District.
