PHOENIX -- A Phoenix woman who was allegedly caught on camera shooting her husband has entered a not guilty plea.
The attorney for Rebekah Mellon, 31, said she waived her appearance at Monday's arraignment in Maricopa County Superior Court.
Mellon has been jailed on a $1 million cash bond on suspicion of first-degree murder. She is accused of shooting and killing her husband inside their home near Central Avenue and Encanto Boulevard on July 31.
Prosecutors said the murder was caught on surveillance cameras at the house. The video reportedly shows Mellon obtaining a handgun from a cabinet, walking into the room where her husband was sitting and shooting him in the head.
Donald Mellon Jr. was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Court documents show the couple had a history of domestic abuse, but police said evidence shows the shooting was unprovoked.
Her next court date is an initial pretrial conference scheduled for Oct. 4.
