PHOENIX (AP) -- A Phoenix woman who helped run a childcare business has pleaded not guilty in the 2012 death of a young girl.
Maricopa County Superior Court spokesman says Allison Clement pleaded not guilty Monday to second-degree murder and charges of child abuse.
Authorities say Clement ran the business with Ryan Reed. He's charged with two counts of sexual conduct with a minor in addition to the charges of second-degree murder and child abuse.
The couple was arrested in connection with the Dec. 11, 2012 death of 2-year-old Savannah Cross.
Phoenix police say the girl had numerous injuries and Reed allegedly admitted to striking, kicking and roughly grabbing her numerous times.
Police have said Clement told detectives she witnessed the abuse but did nothing to stop it.
