GLENDALE, Ariz. – Police are investigating a fatal shooting at a Glendale home Friday afternoon.
Glendale police responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting at a home near Northern and 49th avenues at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Police contacted 25-year-old Alex Luke Felter outside the home then located a woman with a gunshot wound inside, according to Officer Tracey Breeden. No one else was inside the residence.
The woman was declared dead at the scene. She has been identified as 22-year-old Deanna Aguilar, of Phoenix. Felter and Aguilar were boyfriend and girlfriend, according to police.
Felter was detained at the scene and later questioned by detectives.
Investigators are still looking into the motive for this shooting.
Information and evidence obtained by police leads them to believe at some point on Friday afternoon while Felter and Aguilar were at the residence together, Alex got a gun and shot and killed Aguilar.
Detectives working the case have established probable cause for the arrest of Felter. He is facing a charge of second-degree murder and was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail.
"It's so quiet here, so to hear that someone was shot and killed is pretty scary," said neighbor Roxane Porras.
But Glendale police have responded to calls at the home before, according to Sgt. Jay O'Neill. He did not provide any details about those calls.
"I feel sorry for the family," Porras said. "I don't know what happened, how it happened. Hopefully they figure everything out."
