DOUGLAS, Ariz. -- A woman from Mexico was arrested Monday for allegedly trying to smuggle more than 300 pounds of marijuana through the Port of Douglas with her 3-year-old daughter inside her vehicle.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers referred Alma Angelina Martinez-Mendoza, 30, for a search of her 1995 Chevrolet Blazer after an initial inspection revealed tampering with the vehicle's fuel tank.

Officers found 260 packages of marijuana stashed throughout the vehicle.

The marijuana was worth more than $155,000.

The vehicle and marijuana were seized.

Martinez-Mendoza was referred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
