CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) -- An Arizona woman accused of trying to kill her hospitalized husband by injecting fecal matter into his IV line is out of jail on bond.
Authorities said Thursday that Rose Mary Vogel had been held on $100,000 bond after her Jan. 30 arrest on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and vulnerable adult abuse.
Chandler Regional Medical Center staff say they found Vogel tampering with the IV line and saw a brown substance blocking the tube.
A hospital laboratory test identified the substance as fecal matter.
Police documents show the 55-year-old Vogel, of Sun Lakes, is a retired registered nurse who formerly worked at the Chandler hospital.
The incident occurred after 66-year-old Phillip Vogel had undergone a heart procedure.
Police say he has since been released from the hospital.
