COCHISE COUNTY, Ariz. -- A wildfire is burning in the Mule Mountains in southern Arizona, according to Cochise County Sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas.

The fire, reported about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, is burning two miles west of the Mule Pass Tunnel on Highway 80 near Bisbee.

It is estimated at 12 acres.

Capas said Thursday night that the Bisbee, Naco, Elfrida and Tombstone fire departments were on scene. Fire crews were assessing the direction, growth and accessibility of the fire.

The fire is burning on the back side of a hill making it difficult to reach, according to Capas.

Fire crews are expected to begin work toward attacking the incident Friday morning.

There are no road closures and no structures are threatened, Capas said.
