FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – A wildfire that burned near the Coconino County Fairgrounds Sunday night is believed to have been human-caused.
Flagstaff firefighters responded to the report of a wildland fire south of the fairgrounds at around 10:30 p.m.
Crews found about a quarter-acre fire on the ground and a few large downed trees burning, according to firefighter Dillon Winiecki.
There were structures in the immediate area, but none of them were threatened and no one was injured.
Winiecki said the night conditions made it tougher to remain safe.
The Flagstaff Fire Department reminds the community that fire danger in the area is high and campfires are prohibited. Dry and windy conditions allow fires to grow rapidly no matter what time of day or night.
