HAPPY JACK, Ariz. -- Fire crews are working to contain a wildfire in the Coconino National Forest, about 13 miles northeast of Happy Jack, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

Forest Service spokeswoman Heather Noel said the Jack Fire was reported at 11:42 a.m. Saturday and had grown to 1,250 acres in size by Sunday morning with 65 percent containment.

It is burning in grass and pinyon-juniper woodland on both sides of Jack's Canyon, west of State Route 87.

Noel said firefighters established a line around the perimeter of the fire, and there is currently no threat to the line.

About 120 firefighters, including four hot shot crews, have been battling the fire.

The National Weather Service has forecasted a high near 84 degrees Sunday, with southwest winds between 15 and 20 mph. Wind gusts could reach 35 mph in the afternoon.

Noel said no strutures are threatened, but rock climbing areas in Jack's Canyon have been evacuated and remain closed.

The cause is unknown.
