PHOENIX - Delays are expected at Sky Harbor International Airport as the weather continues to worsen.
Any flights that were in the air by 10:30 a.m. (MST) are going to land as scheduled, but flights that haven't taken off from their destination to Phoenix are canceled.
Airport officials said Sky Harbor is not going to close. As soon as the weather allows, normal flight operations will resume.
Individual airlines are evaluating their flights on a case-by-case basis. The biggest concerns right now are visibility and wind conditions. Customers should contact the airlines directly for specific flight information.
Southwest Airlines has already announced that it will suspend operations in Phoenix at 2 p.m. Customers holding reservations to/from Phoenix from 11:00 MST through close of business on Thursday, January 21 wanting to alter their travel plans may rebook in the original class of service or travel standby (within 14 days of their original date of travel between the original city-pairs) without paying any additional charge.
Additionally, customers holding reservations for a Southwest flight that is canceled to/from Phoenix may request a refund for an unused ticket/travel itinerary.
US Airways is trimming its flight schedule and has canceled 14 mainline and 12 US Airways Express flights. Airline spokeswoman Valerie Wunder says other operations were continuing as weather allowed.
United Airlines and other operators also restricted their operations.
