TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police are hoping surveillance video will help them identify and locate a hit-and-run suspect.

The video shows Dustin Kalkbrenner, 24, riding his skateboard on Dec. 27 just moments before he was hit by a silver Nissan Xterra at University Drive and Ash Avenue. The video also shows the suspect vehicle before the collision.

The vehicle fled south into an adjacent neighborhood. It was last seen traveling south at a high speed on or near Farmer Avenue from University Drive.

The driver is described as a white man in his early 20s with bushy, brown shoulder-length hair. A comb or pick was seen sticking out of his hair at the time of the crash.

Police believe there was also a passenger in the SUV, who was described as a white man.

Police are hoping anyone who recognizes the vehicle in the video will come forward and let them know who owns it.

Police said Kalkbrenner is still in critical condition after being hit and left on the side of the road.
