APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. -- Two elderly Apache Junction residents were hospitalized on Wednesday morning after being run over by a car.

Police said three men in their 70s had been grocery shopping when they returned to a residence at a mobile home park located at 351 N. Meridian Drive.

While two of the men were unloading bags from the trunk of the car, the third man put the vehicle in reverse and ran the other men over.

After realizing what had happened, the man then put the car in drive and ran over one of the men a second time.

One of the victims was in extremely critical condition with life threatening injuries when the Apache Junction Fire Department arrived on scene. The man was transported to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital.

The second victim was taken to Mountain Vista Medical Center in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

No charges have been reported, but Apache Junction Police continue to investigate the incident.
