TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Two people died after being run over by a car, and Tucson police say one of them was a good Samaritan who had stopped to help a woman fighting with a man. That woman was the other person killed.
Police say 32-year-old Patrick Balbastro and his girlfriend stopped their car on a neighborhood street to help 46-year-old Cindy Burnett who was fighting with an unidentified man early Wednesday morning.
According to police, the fight escalated and the man with whom Burnett was fighting got into Balbastro's car and repeatedly ran over Balbastro, Balbastro's girlfriend and Burnett.
Balbastro was fatally injured. Burnett died at the scene.
Police say Balbastro's 43-year-old girlfriend is hospitalized with critical injuries. Her name wasn't released.
The attacker drove off and later abandoned Balbastro's car.
