TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A Tucson couple accused of starving their 3-year-old son to death have made their first court appearances.
A Pima County Superior Court judge on Tuesday entered not-guilty pleas for 39-year-old Raquel Barreras and 45-year-old Martin Barreras.
They're charged with murder, child abuse and concealment of a body in the death of Roman Barreras.
The boy's remains were found March 4 by a landlord who was cleaning a home as the family was in the process of moving out.
The couple has four other children ranging in age from 4 to 19. The three youngest children who are minors have been turned over Child Protective Services.
Court documents say the couple's other kids had told investigators that the parents had starved the boy to death.
The parents remain jailed.
