TEMPE, Ariz. – Tempe police have released a sketch of one of the suspects in a residential burglary that happened Tuesday while a 13-year-old boy was home alone.

Police said the two suspects first tried knocking on the door and when they thought no one was home, they climbed on the roof and broke out the skylight to get into the apartment near University Drive and Price Road.

"Two guys broke in and told me to cover my face so I wouldn't see them," Alexis Chavez said.

The suspects ransacked the home and searched for valuables for more than an hour.

"I was scared and I didn't really want them to take our stuff," Alexis said.

One suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a muscular build, wearing a red shirt with a white logo. The other suspect was described only as a black male in his 20s. One of the suspects has a sleeve tattoo on his right arm.

This was the third burglary in the same complex since the start of July.

"We got into the apartment and everything was scattered everywhere," said Valeria, whose home also was burglarized. "Our TV was gone, couch cushions were taken apart. It was a lot of disasters."

The fingerprinting on their door didn't catch the suspects before they struck at Alexis' home.

Police believe the same suspects could be responsible for all three burglaries, which occurred during broad daylight.

"Everything points to that these two individuals are the same people that are more than likely connected with those other residential burglaries," Lt. Mike Pooley said.

Valeria and her brother are sad that another kid had to go through what they did but are glad that they weren't home when it happened to them.

"It was scary," Valeria said. "It was just unbelievable."
