TEMPE, Ariz. -- A man who was injured in a hit-and-run in Tempe last week has died and police continue to search for the suspect vehicle.
Sgt. Steve Carbajal with the Tempe Police Department said Tyler Jim Shepherd, 29, died from injuries sustained in Thursday night's collision.
Shepherd was crossing Scottsdale Road mid-block at Weber Drive, which is south of McKellips Road, when he was struck. His prosthetic leg was among the debris on the street. The suspect vehicle slowed down after hitting Shepherd then continued southbound at a high rate of speed.
Detectives have been working to locate the vehicle and driver involved in the fatal crash. Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a 2007 metallic red or maroon Dodge Durango or Dodge Nitro. It likely has front-end damage.
