TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- A Tempe 18-year-old accused of having an improvised explosive device in his bedroom in his family's home has pleaded not guilty.

Joshua Prater entered the plea Thursday to a charge of misconducted involving weapons.

He was arraigned in Maricopa County Superior Court.

Police have said a cleaning woman found the device inside the home and took it to a fire station.

Firefighters notified police, and the bomb squad responded and disabled the device.
