PHOENIX -- Police have located and arrested a teen in connection with a deadly shooting at a west Phoenix park last month.

Jodon Martinez, 17, was arrested Thursday on a felony warrant charging him with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault, according to Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

Martinez, a documented gang member, allegedly walked up to a group of people playing basketball at a park near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road on June 26 and opened fire.

Dershawn Stuard, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 14-year-old boy was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said Martinez had an ongoing dispute with the victims because they refused to join a gang.

Martinez is being held at the Maricopa Juvenile Court Center.
